Geir Draugsvoll is considered to be one of the most important musicians on his instrument, the classical accordion/bayan. The last decade, he has caused headlines like “Breaking boarders”, “Fantastic”, “An Overcoming”, “All hail the accordion” and “Musical Sensation”. And with a repertoire ranging from Bach, Mozart, Grieg and Stravinsky to contemporary classics like Gubaidulina, Hosokawa, Berio, Nørgaard and Piazzolla, he has performed all over Europe, and also toured China and Japan.
Among
festivals and concert-arenas, he has performed at; Great Hall of
Moscow Conservatory (Russia), Queen Elisabeth Hall (London), Lockenhaus Festival
(Austria), Aldebourgh Festival (England), Edinburgh Festival, (Scotland),
Rheingau Festival (Germany), Brandenburgische Sommerkonzerte (Germany), Octobre
Normandie (France), Mittelfest (Italy), Konzerthaus (Berlin), Musikhalle
(Hamburg), Al Bustan Festival (Lebanon),
Ultima Contemporary Festival (Norway), Bergen International Festival, (Norway)
and many others, and he has played together with orchestras like Russian
National Orchestra, Kremerata Baltica, Moscow Soloists, Norwegian Radio Symphony
Orchestra, Camerata Nordica, Kammerakademie Potsdam and several others.

Through
collaborations with many composers, Geir Draugsvoll must be characterized as one
of the pioneers on his young instrument, and he has premiered a large number of
works.

is the world-premiere of a new concerto to him
for bayan & string orchestra by
Sofia Gubaidulina at Norway´s
Olavsfestival 28th July
2009, the TrondheimSoloists participating.

Copenhagen, Reykjavik, Vilnius and Trondheim.Geir Draugsvoll (b. 1967) is
Norwegian, but now lives in Copenhagen where he is associate professor at the
Royal Academy of Music.
