Tine Thing Helseth – Trumpet

Tine Thing Helseth (21) from Oslo, Norway, started to play trumpet at the age of 7. She is already one of today’s most talked about international trumpet talents with many prestigious engagements to her credit. She has an extensive and varied repertory in orchestra, recital and chamber music.

Miss Helseth studies at Barratt Due Music Institute in Oslo. Arnulf Naur Nilsen, Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra.

In May 2006 she became 2nd prize winner of the “Eurovision Young Musician Contest 2006” in Vienna. The event was televised live, all over Europe.

Her first CD, “Classical Trumpet Concertos with The Norwegian Chamber Orchestra  (SIMAX PSC 1292) has been met with euphoric reviews.

Recent national and international prizes and awards include:
- International Trumpet competition “Theo Charlier” 2005  
- “Musician of the Year 2005”, Norway
- The Norwegian Soloist Prize, 2006
- The Norwegian Broadcasting’s (P2) Soloist prize, 2006/2007
- Prince Eugen’s Culture Prize 2006 (Norway/Sweden)
- Kissinger Sommer “The Luitpold prize” 2006
- Norwegian Grammy Award 2007
- Borletti-Buitoni Trust Award 2009

Recent and upcoming engagements include Beethoven Academie, Wiener Symphoniker, Cappella Cracowiensis, Shanghai Symphony Orchestra,Slovenian Radio Symphony Ljubljana, Swedens Camerata Nordica, Württembergische Philharmoniker, Kremlin Camerata, Nordwestdeutsche Philharmonie, Georgische Kammerorchester, Bielefeld Symphony Orchestra, Värmlands Operaens Sinfonietta, Kremlin Chamber Orchestra, Staatsphilharmoine Rheinland-Pfalz, London Concert Symphony Orchestra,Stuttgarter Kammerorchester, Vienna Chamber Orchestra, Norwegian Chamber Orchestra, TrondheimSolistene, Philharmonie Baden-Baden, UlsterOrchestra and all Norwegian Philharmonic and Symphonic orchestras.

Festival appearances include Bergen International Festival, Kissinger Summer Festival, Nordland Music Festival, Oslo Chamber Music Festival, Hardanger Musikkfest, Kirsten Flagstad Festival,Usedom Musikfestival and Leif Ove Andsnes Risør Kammermusikkfest.

Miss Helseth has worked with conductors such as Andris Nelsons, Peter Kuhn, Ariel Zuckermann, Arvid Engegård, Christian Arming, Christoph Poppen, Didier Boture, Sebastian Lang-Lessing, Ola Rudner, En Shao, Bjarte Engeset

Upcoming engagements 2008/09 include concerts  and tours with Vienna Chamber Orchestra, Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra, Ulster Symphony Orchestra, Statsphilharmonie Rheinland Pfalz, Philharmonie Baden-Baden, Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra, Norwegian Radio SO, Trondheim Symphony, Norwegian Chamber Orchestra, TrondheimSoloists, Hanoi Philharmonic Orchestra, Stuttgarter Kammerorchester, Pärnu City Orchestra and festival appearances at Leif Ove Andsnes´s Risør Chamber Music Fest, Bergen International Festival and Kissinger Musiksommer.

2009 Miss Helseth will  include her Washington D.C. and Tokyo  debuts.
